Antiperspirants are said to contain a chemical component which is effective in stopping sweat. This component is known as aluminum chloride. However, not all antiperspirants are proven to be effective. Before purchasing, check the chemical components and make sure that the antiperspirant is of high quality.
If antiperspirants wouldn’t work, doctors may recommend for a person to undergo a process known as iontophoresis whereby sweat glands are stopped from working. The person in this case undergoes a series of sessions that would depend on the severity of sweating that one suffers. Even though this process is said to use water to conduct electric current into the person’s skin, this does not cause pain however.
On the other hand, doctors may also require persons who sweat excessively to take oral medications. These medicines have to be taken regularly like the usual medicines that belong to the category known as anticholinergics. However, the popularity of these medications have turned down as medical practitioners have discouraged the use of these medicines for complaints on various side effects experienced by persons who used these medicines.
Injections are also available which requires a number of sessions also. During the process of having these injections, block sweat glands are blocked causing the skin to temporarily sweat.
In really worst cases however, surgery may be required especially for those who suffer excessive sweating in the underarm areas. This method involves the destruction of a nerve that is connected to the sweat glands. Its aim is to stop the nerve which causes sweat from functioning. Of all the medical means, this is said to be the most dangerous means of stopping sweat for during the process, doctors have to temporarily deflate the person’s lungs in order for them to see the nerves clearly. Worst complications may result during and after the operation that should required one to ponder a million times before going through this operation. Doctors on the other hand have remained extremely cautious by treating this as a method of last resort.
Despite the rewards of having stopped sweating, one should think of the possible compromises – the complications that may lead also in the hope of getting rid of sweat.
